Glycol Heating

Thermal Process Development glycol heating systems have some of the highest efficiency with maximum heat transfer and lowest stack temperatures available. All of our heaters offer high heat transfer surface areas without the need for economizers or air preheaters. The best layout for any thermal fluid is a dual helical coil layout; this style of heater provides the longest lasting fluid life, lowest equipment maintenance and smallest footprint. A dual helical design has an inner and outer thermal fluid coil which can be in series or parallel flow and has two fluid passes through the hot flue gases. The dual helical glycol heater design is the Thermal Process Development standard. Thermal Process Development also designs with the lowest pressure drop allowable to lower the maintenance needs of the glycol heater and the thermal fluid pumps. Heating glycol in a hot oil heater is becoming standard in many industries such as manufacturing processes, reactor heating, tank heating, gas processing, building heating and liquid and gas reheating. Depending on the type of glycol, it can be heated up to 300°F under the right design. Using glycol for process heating has many benefits including being able heat glycol to high temperatures at low pressures and provides other advantages of not needing chemical treatments like a boiler and having to deal with condensate and steam.

Thermal Fluid Heaters

Thermal fluid heaters have several names including thermal oil heater, thermic heater, thermal oil boiler, hot oil heater, glycol heater and others. Thermal Process Development can offer high quality thermal fluid heaters with our standard high efficiency designs or customizable designs for specific plant requirements. Thermal fluid heating is available with gas and oil burners, electric heating or even as heat recovery thermal oil units (HRTO).

Thermal fluid expansion tanks and degassing systems as well as the thermal oil heater, pumps and process equipment are important for maintaining long oil life. Thermal Process Development can provide an expansion tank or degassing tank system or help design a complete new system. Thermal fluid pumps and pump skids can also be provided. Thermal fluid pumps and pump parts are available directly from the manufacturer as well.
